Kalan Restaurant and Catering Services is a neighbourhood Filipino restaurant at 1449 Arlington Street, in the heart of Winnipeg’s North End. Ours is a casual, cafeteria-style kitchen: you can see every dish on the steam table, build a plate of home-style Filipino cooking for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and order party trays for the whole family.

Home-style Filipino cooking on Arlington Street

Kalan has been part of the North End for years, long enough that Filipino families, shift workers and first-time visitors all treat it as their regular table. The cooking is straightforward and home-style — the familiar flavours Filipino guests grew up with, and an easy, friendly introduction for anyone trying Filipino food in Winnipeg for the first time. Neighbours from William Whyte, Inkster-Faraday, St. John’s, Shaughnessy Park and Point Douglas are only a short drive away.

A Filipino buffet of pancit, lumpia and tocino

Dishes are served buffet-style from the steam table, so you can see your favourites before you choose them. Regulars come for sweet cured tocino and crispy pata, pancit noodles, lumpia spring rolls, grilled and fried meats like barbecue pork and chicken, and slow-cooked Filipino stews such as adobo. We open at 7 AM every day, so Filipino breakfast plates — longsilog, tocilog and rice with egg — are on from first thing in the morning right through lunch.

Filipino catering for parties, offices and community events

Alongside dine-in service, Kalan caters birthdays, church gatherings, office lunches and community events across Winnipeg, sending out trays of pancit, lumpia, grilled meats and stews for large groups. We serve the city by dine-in, takeout, delivery and catering — open daily from 7 AM, until 3 PM Sunday through Thursday and until 5 PM on Friday and Saturday.
